Tata Hexa – Power Packed, Feature Loaded & Adrenaline Pumped

After the successful launch of Tiago, Tata Motors has been doing the right things to grab the attention of prospective customers. Tata is in its final preparation to welcome its upcoming MPV-SUV crossover the Tata Hexa, what is being labeled as the best-yet offering by the people in the business.

Few lucky Bloggers (60 to be precise!) across India have got their hands on the steering wheel of the SUV last weekend in Hyderabad and all thanks to Indiblogger’s team which made this possible. On our first drive, we find out just how much of an SUV the Hexa really is and its much talked about 4 Super Drive Modes.

The Looks!

Tata yet again relied heavily on the team behind the successful design of Tiago for the Hexa. While we all know that the old Aria with whom people are comparing was positioned as a crossover, but Hexa is distinctly MPV-ish in its design and outlook. They have used the hydroformed X2 platform here as well, but its very much evident that the sheet metal is all new.

Now moving to the interiors, Tata Hexa boasts the high-tech interior features with a fresh new layout with six seats which also includes the flexible captain seats. With a dual color combination of black and beige color treatment, its dashboard looks trendy and very decent in a layered style. The center console of the vehicle consists of a big touch screen display and an automatic climate control.

The interiors are surely going to impress you as soon as you hop in the car. With the shades like piano black, matte black, silver accents and polished chrome makes it really impressive.

The Hexa comes with Connectnext Infotainment System By Harman™, a fantastic 10 speaker audio system offers acoustically tuned experience with 4 door speakers, 4 tweeters, subwoofer, a power amplifier and a center speaker to make you drive enjoyable.

Tata also focussed towards providing The Hexa as a truly feature-rich. Be it AWD tech or mood lighting and cruise control, six airbags, Electronic stability programme, Hill Hold & descent control, the Hexa has it all.

It is available with six as well as seven-seater options. Needless to say, one should not worry about space for a Hexa passenger.

The all new Tata Hexa is powered by a 2.2 litres Varicor 400 diesel engine which churns out the maximum power of 156 bhp at 4000 rpm and with maximum torque of 400Nm at 1700-2700rpm. This powerful engine is mated to for six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission. The vehicle also features a torque on demand Terrain Response System for its four-wheel drive system.

Fuel tank comes with the capacity of 60 litres which will definitely come handy for a long drive.

Drive Modes and transmissions!

Tata Hexa offers two transmissions, first one a manual and another one an automatic. Both are six-speeders and new. The feature of auto box is available in the rear-wheel drive variant only, and I must say it’s a smart unit knowing the fact that its a first for Tata.

There isn’t much puffing and heaving when you show it some urgency. Hexa builds up the power fairly easily and we can take the speed up to three-digit very effortlessly.

When it comes to driving modes, Tata Hexa offers 6-speed manual transmission with first-in-segment Super Drive Modes which are Auto, Dynamic, Comfort and Rough road.

  • Auto Mode: It allows the car to make a decision based on the road surface. It optimised to adapt to any terrain, with a focus on the power, safety and traction.
  • Dynamic Mode: This mode offers sharper engine responses. The all new ESP system turns to ensure that the safety is being taken care of as you enjoy the ride.
  • Comfort Mode: This mode is ideal for long journeys, with the cruising speeds on highways, the power is tuned towards giving a comfortable experience.
  • Rough Road Mode: It allows a comfortable ride even on the off road and I must say it is the most fantastic mode and an amazing experience.

Tata Hexa India Launch Date!

The Hexa will launch in January 2017 but its bookings open in November 2016. Please check the Tata Motors website for more details or you can follow them on Twitter as well.

With the kind of features and comfort, we can easily say that The Hexa is a direct rival to the Toyota Innova Crysta and Mahindra XUV500. It is very much likely that the Hexa will become the next big thing from Tata Motors in the time to come.
