Cafe Dalal Street, not just another Bar.. Its Bar Stock exchange

Indian Bloggers

Cafe Dalal Street, I am sure while reading the title you must be thinking is that somewhere linked with Stock exchange? Then the answer is yes! A brainchild of Himanshu and Vidit, this cafe if one of its kind with the concept of Dynamic prices. Yes, you heard it right, dynamic prices but don’t worry Food prices are stable.

Why should you be here?

The concept of Cafe Dalal Street is based on the novel concept of stock exchanges, where prices for the stock increase with the increase in demand and vice versa. Drinks start at a base price & are governed by the laws of demand and supply. Based on the time periods within which different customers place orders and frequency, the demand for a particular drink grows or declines & the prices go up or down. Sounds interesting? yeah!

Just like the stock exchange market, here also once every day, the market crashes too. so customers can easily purchase at rock bottom prices or trade their favorite drinks. Trading then begins all over again from this new set base price. If you know how to trade in the stock market this is pretty easy. There’s also a couple of LCD monitors dedicated to displaying the price fluctuations of drinks.

Let’s start with the good things first:

Ambience: Ambience is pretty good, it sprawls over a huge area of 5000 sq. feet to easily accommodate more than 100 people at a time including the dance floor.

Drinks:  Though taste for cocktails is quite a personal choice, I preferred – Chocolate Martini over others. Full marks to the overall presentation of their Signature cocktail “Bankruptcy” as it was really creative. We also tried The Bull Chaser however, it was quite an average one.

Food: We tried few things from starters and main course which typically go well with the Cocktails and for that matter any other drinks.  Personally, I quite liked Butter Chicken Gol Gappe, yes Delhi’s favorite street snack served in new style. We also tried, Mushroom and Beetroot Galouti, Burnt Chilli Crispy Chicken, Honey Chilli Potato, Veg Spring Rolls, Five-Spiced Asian Fish Nuggets followed by Hara Bhara Kebab and they all were good.

Later on, we ordered Parsi Mutton Dhansak, served with fragrant Parsi rice pila. Mutton was cooked perfectly and the taste of gravy was quite amazing.

What could have been better?

Cocktails could’ve been better, they have that creativity touch in their presentations it’s just that same need to reflect in the taste as well.
